Im 15, and want to lose some weight. I’ve done yoga before, and i remember it not being hard at all. But without my knowledge it could’ve been burning fat or something. So does it? Or is it more for just relieving stress and stretching?
Yoga is a good compliment for a well rounded workout.
You will gain balance and strength in some positions and will gain flexibility in other positions.
If you want to lose weight, then you need to incorporate cardio into your workout routine and some strength building. Strength building will make your muscle mass increase (if you’re a girl, don’t worry you don’t have to be beef up to build muscle mass). This is because muscle burns more calories than other body tissues. Cardio, like running, swimming, biking, or walking briskly, will help a lot.
It gets up your flexability, relieves stress and is known for wieght loss

You won’t burn as much as if you were doing a cardio workout. However, yoga increases your flexibility and improves your balance and posture, which keep a good circulation going in your body — that is what allows you to lose weight better and keep it off.
If you want to try more challenging yoga, try hot yoga. It is a yoga workout done in a heated room. It makes you sweat and work hard. Most places say you have to be over 16 to try it (it’s like a sauna) but do yoga regularly first and you’ll be able to try hot yoga in a year. My friends who have done it say it’s really effective.

Yoga will not do much for you dear, it is a relaxing exercise, if you really want to lose weight you need to do something that has to do with cardio and fat burning. Like running, using a threadmill, etc.
